As a private university in the public service, NYU has a responsibility to embed environmental values at the core of its operations and academic mission. Sustainability means bringing together diverse segments of our community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and neighbors—to improve environmental performance and deepen the 'green' campus culture.
In just five years, the University has worked with both leadership and the grassroots to cut global warming pollution by 30%, expand course offerings in environmental and social justice, award more than 75 Green Grants to community projects, launch the first free bike-sharing program in NYC, and much more.
We've made a real and significant impact here at NYU, but we're just getting started. At its heart, sustainability is about more than 'going green.' It's about educating the next generation of leaders so that they are prepared for a less predictable 21st century, and developing new models for a more peaceful and prosperous global community.
Your gift to NYU Sustainability ensures that new programs can move forward each year to make NYU a better and greener place to live, work, teach and learn. Visit www.nyu.edu/sustainability to learn more.
