Becoming an Affiliated Faculty Member at NYU Shanghai
Full-time NYU faculty in New York may participate in NYU Shanghai in a variety of ways as Affiliated Faculty. Affiliated Faculty may be invited to teach and conduct research in Shanghai for a semester, an academic year, or longer. Teaching assignments are generally planned at least one academic year in advance and are based on curricular needs. NYU Shanghai compensates New York faculty during their teaching appointments as Affiliated Faculty at its campus, and the resulting salary savings in New York provides schools and departments with fungible resources that can be used to meet a variety of needs, e.g., visitors, support for graduate students, and (for multi-year commitments) new faculty lines, subject to the dean's approval.
Release for teaching at NYU Shanghai requires the approval of the faculty member's department chair and dean.
