Create an iCal, RSS, or JSON Feed

  1. Calendar feeds can be created based on group, category, and/ or tag for use in websites or other formats outside of NYU's web content management system.
  2. Use the custom feed builder coming soon to the Events Calendar page.
  3. You can also use the information below to create your own custom feeds.
  4. If you're using the Events Calendar component in the CMS, please review this tutorial for how to create a feed.

How Feed Paths Work

  1. You can build your own feed by customizing what data you want pulled from the available Events Calendar listings.
  2. iCal, RSS, and JSON (also used for the CMS) interpret feeds slightly differently, and are noted where applicable.
  3. Base of Your Feed:
    http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/group/GROUP-NAME/categories/EVENT-TYPE/tag/TAG-NAME
  4. Advanced Options:
    1. You can add more than one group to your feed by repeating the "/group/GROUP-NAME" pattern in the feed path.
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/group/GROUP-NAME-ONE/group/GROUP-NAME-TWO/
    2. You can add more than one category to your feed by repeating the "/categories/EVENT-TYPE" pattern in the feed path.
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/categories/EVENT-TYPE-ONE/categories/EVENT-TYPE-TWO/
    3. You can add more than one tag to your feed by repeating the "/tag/TAG-NAME" pattern in the feed path.
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/tag/TAG-NAME-ONE/tag/TAG-NAME-TWO/
  5. JSON Options:
    1. Show all events within a 90 day period starting on a specific date by adding "/start_date/MMDDYYY" immediately after the feed type.
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/start_date/MMDDYYYY/group/GROUP-NAME/
    2. Show all events within a 90 day period from the current date through on a specific end date by adding "/end_date/MMDDYYY" immediately after the feed type.
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/FEED-TYPE/end_date/MMDDYYYY/group/GROUP-NAME/
  6. Things to Know:
    1. Including a group, category, and tag section in your feed are optional.
    2. If you include a group in your feed, the category and/ or tag sections of your feed will only look for events that match those fields within that group.
    3. With the custom feed builder (coming soon), most users should not need to manually create their feeds. For assistance with more advanced feed building related questions, please email the NYU Events Team.
