Building Leadership Excellence is NYU's leadership development program for mid-level managers.

What’s featured in the program?

See the 2019 schedule and curriculum below. Highlights are:

  • Over the course of six sessions spread across five months, managers learn, develop, and practice skills needed to succeed in their current and future leadership roles at NYU.
  • Sessions include self-assessments, readings, videos, and opportunities for peer-to-peer support. Sessions are supplemented with activities that allow participants to apply skills learned. Additionally, participants receive feedback from a series of individuals with whom they work.

Is the program for me?

The program is targeted to leaders who:

  • Are mid-level managers, e.g., Directors, Associate Directors
  • Have demonstrated mastery the basics of leadership
  • Have successfully managed others for at least 3-5 years
  • Currently have at least one or more direct reports (administrators and/or staff), preferably three or more
  • Can commit to attending all sessions
