Building Leadership Excellence
Building Leadership Excellence is NYU's leadership development program for mid-level managers.
What’s featured in the program?
See the 2019 schedule and curriculum below. Highlights are:
- Over the course of six sessions spread across five months, managers learn, develop, and practice skills needed to succeed in their current and future leadership roles at NYU.
- Sessions include self-assessments, readings, videos, and opportunities for peer-to-peer support. Sessions are supplemented with activities that allow participants to apply skills learned. Additionally, participants receive feedback from a series of individuals with whom they work.
Is the program for me?
The program is targeted to leaders who:
- Are mid-level managers, e.g., Directors, Associate Directors
- Have demonstrated mastery the basics of leadership
- Have successfully managed others for at least 3-5 years
- Currently have at least one or more direct reports (administrators and/or staff), preferably three or more
- Can commit to attending all sessions
How can I be nominated for the program?
- Participants must be nominated (download, save, and complete .docx nomination form) by their supervisor, approved by their HR Officer or Business Partner, and submitted for consideration between March 29 through April 25, 2019.
- An accompanying letter of interest (download, save, and complete .docx letter template) by the nominee is also required.
- The cost is $500 per participant for the 360 assessment and other materials.
