Joel Silver, D.D.S.

Research Interests / Professional Overview:

Dr. Joel Silver graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1973. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy for three years at Besthda Naval Hospital and the Brooklyn Naval Yard Regional Dental Clinic.In 1977. Dr. Silver went into private practice from 1977-1998. In 1998 Dr. Silver retired from private practice and served as the the Dental Director of the Department of Mental Health , the State of New York at Pilgrim State Hospital. until 1999. During that period of time Dr. Silver was also the chief dental consultant to the Suffolk County Dental Benefits Fund. In 1999 Dr. Silver was appointed part-time to the Department of General Dentistry and Management Science as an Assistant Clinical Professor.During the time from 1999- Sept. of 2004 Dr. Silver taught general and prosthetic clinical dentistry in the dental clinics.In October of 2004 Dr. Silver was appointed as a full-time Assistant Clinical Professor and is presently teaching clinical dentistry in clinics 4cd.

Research Interests:

Prior to making Dentistry his profession ,Dr. Silver did research in the U.S. Navy in temperature stresses at the Naval Research Insitute, Besthda Maryland and in traumatic combat surgery in Vietnam from 1965-1969.

Advisory Activities:

Consultant to the Suffolk County Dental funds.Consultant to numerous law firms reviewing dental malpractice. Consultant to the Hotel and Trades Union in the areas of quality chart control and prosthetic treatment and case evaluation and quality control.
