Research Interests / Professional Overview:

Investigations in the periodontal-systemic disease link and health disparities in populations.

Overview:

Dr. Yip's research includes investigations of the periodontal-systemic disease link: assessing whether periodontal disease is a risk factor for cardiovascular events, investigating if treatment of periodontal disease in patients with systemic disease improves the clinical outcome of the existing systemic condition, and examining the role of cultural, social and economic factors with respect to health behaviors, access to care and disparities in health.
