The program allows students with an interest in archaeology and ancient studies to participate in one semester of study at NYU Tel Aviv concentrating on exploring the antiquities of the city of Caesarea Maritima in central Israel.

Academic Program

While at NYU Tel Aviv, students will:

  • enroll in the 4-credit course: Ancient Israel: History and Archaeology
  • participate in select archaeological field trips (tours)
  • write a seminar paper at the end of the semester

In addition, students are required to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits of in-person NYU Tel Aviv coursework, including a 4-credit Hebrew or Arabic language course or the course Languages of Israel.

Funding

Students may receive up to $6,000 to defray the costs associated with study away such as airfare, housing, and board.

Out of Class Learning

The program also includes several trips and visits to digs at archaeological sites throughout Israel and the region.

Study Away students at NYU Tel Aviv are eligible to apply to the NYU Tel Aviv Archaeology program. To be considered for the program, please write a 3 paragraph summary of why archaeology matters to you and how this specific program will assist and support your long term academic and professional goals. The program application is available in students' enrollment portal under the Application Status tab.

All materials must be submitted by November 5th. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after this deadline.
