Get out of the classroom and into the community! Tel Aviv offers many unique opportunities to gain pre-professional experience within companies and organizations that harness innovation to approach complex challenges.  Innovation-oriented students may explore Israel’s unique and diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, accelerators, innovation hubs, and financial firms.  Students interested in the non-profit sector can gain expertise within advocacy organizations using cutting edge strategies both locally and globally to advance social justice, sustainability, and development.

See below for examples of potential internship opportunities in organizations representing a wide range of for-profit and non-profit sectors in Tel Aviv. Please note that the availability of an internship placement during any given semester is subject to the organizations’ needs at that time. NYUTel Aviv does its utmost to find a placement that is suited to students’ interests, needs, and unique skill sets.

Biology Internship Opportunities

The goal of the biology internship is to expose students to research in some of Israel's most exciting laboratories. All biology internships will take place at Tel Aviv University.

During the course of the internship, students work with PhD candidates who will instruct them and supervise their work.

Depending on the type of research in each lab, students would have a chance to learn different experimental lab techniques, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell cultering, flow cytometry and microscropy.

Students are required to attend the lab at least 3 days a week, 3-6 hours each day, as required by the lab.

All students will enroll in BIOL-UA 9980 Biology Internship for 2-4 credits. This class meets weekly and throughout the semester students will present their work to their fellow internship students.

At the end of the term, the students will submit a scientific essay, which includes an introduction to the field of study, description of the methods they have used, results and discussion. This essay will satisfy the final research project requirement for the class.

Emerging and Interactive Media

In the field of Media and Arts, Israel’s global advantage and added value is due to the developed local innovation ecosystem and the advanced computer skills of Israeli entrepreneurs, who can begin to implement creative ideas, untrammeled by any technical deficits.

Matching students with placements should start with the student’s individual profile, needs, and goals.

Because Emerging Media it is a pioneering field, there is not one traditional path that must be followed to professionalize, allowing for multiple possibilities in three major sectors (e.g. advertising, online education delivery systems, and art institutions).

In addition to these examples, other possible internships include some of Israel’s world-renowned art and history museums (Agam Museum, Diaspora Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Yad Vashem) as well as more research oriented opportunities with leading scholars in one of Israel’s leading academic institutions in the field.
