The end of the semester in New York is just a few weeks away, and students are already hiding in the library to finish up papers and preparing for exams -- so don't worry if the phone calls are less frequent -- they really are studying this time! The December newsletter provides helpful information in preparation for the end of the semester, including University operations during the winter break.
Final Exams and Grades
The final exam period for students in New York runs from December 18-22 and scheduled by class day and time. Be sure to check with your student regarding their schedule -- they may be finished early! Grades will be available on Albert (the NYU student information website) at the end of the term and as they are received from the instructor. Note that some grades may take longer to post due to the type of final exam and the winter break schedule. Your student should direct any questions regarding final grades to their respective professor when the University opens in January. As a reminder, your student may grant you guest access through Albert Mobile to view grades and other information. For global site calendars, please click here.
On-Campus Housing: Looking Ahead
MOVE-OUT: For residents who are not continuing their studies in NYC for the Spring term (graduation, study away, leave of absence, etc.), room check-out is required at the end of the Fall term within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by noon on Friday, December 22, whichever comes first. Additional check-out information is available at all Residence Hall Resource Centers.
WINTER BREAK: For those residents who will continue their enrollment in NYC for the Spring 2018 semester, residence halls remain open and accessible throughout the winter break (no move-out required). Note the following check-in dates for new students:
- New Spring 2018 Freshmen: 9:00am on Tuesday, January 16
- New Spring 2018 Upperclass/Transfer students: 9:00am on Sunday, January 21 (Earlier check-in for new upperclassmen/transfers is not available due to January term occupancy that ends on January 20.)
2018-2019 HOUSING REAPPLICATION: It's never too early to start planning ahead for on-campus housing. The re-application process for 2018-2019 (next academic year) begins on February 26 with the on-line application and $1,000 housing reservation payment due by March 9. Eligible students who miss the March 9 deadline will lose their housing guarantee for all future terms. Look for more details in the February newsletter.
Airport Shuttle Reservations
The Department of Public Safety, in partnership with SuperShuttle, provides airport transportation service between NYU Residence Halls or the Kimmel Center and LaGuardia and JFK International airports. Reservations are being taken for the week of December 19-23. Read more >>
Now is a good time to review your student's remaining meals before the end of the term. Meals do not roll over to the Spring semester, however Dining Dollars will roll over from Fall to Spring for students who continue with a meal plan. Meal plans automatically renew for the Spring, and changes may now be made through the Dining Portal on NYU Home by February 6, 2018. For additional questions, contact NYU Dining at email@example.com.
For students who wish to give unused meals to help feed NYC's Hungry Kids, donations of up to three meal swipes and $90 in Dining Dollars per day may be made at any dining location from December 19 - 23.
During the optional January Session, select dining locations will be open. Students enrolled in a spring meal plan may use their Spring Dining Dollars during Winter Session. Visit nyu.edu/dining.
