NYU Welcome Weekend visitors may request an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements, for valid medical or religious reasons only. Those who are not fully vaccinated and boosted for reasons other than a valid medical or religious reason do not qualify for the COVID-19 vaccination exemption process.

• Medical exemptions may be claimed only if a licensed physician, licensed nurse practitioner, or licensed midwife (caring for a pregnant affiliate, vendor, or visitor) explicitly instructed you not to receive the COVID-19 vaccination because such vaccination may be detrimental to your health or is otherwise medically contraindicated.
• Religious exemptions may be claimed only for genuine and sincerely held religious beliefs which are contrary to the practice of immunization.

Social, political, or economic philosophies, or personal preferences with respect to immunization do not justify an exemption.

NYU Welcome Weekend visitors claiming a valid medical or religious exemption must upload proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result prior to their visit. The test must be taken within the 3 days (72 hours) prior to each date of access to NYU building or NYU-sponsored activity (on or off campus).

Test results must be uploaded and verified by the Extended Community Support Team in advance of the visit. Test results are not accepted at the door. NYU Welcome Weekend visitors without an approved negative COVID-19 PCR test result received in the past 72 hours will not be granted access to NYU buildings or NYU-sponsored activities (on or off campus).

No. Residence hall access will be restricted to NYU students after August 28, 2022. Additionally, after August 28, 2022, all NYU-sponsored visitors must be invited to participate in a specific event or activity AND sponsored by an NYU employee AND comply with all requirements for NYU Sponsored Visitors, Vendors, and Affiliates. Verification procedures and age restrictions may differ from NYU Welcome Weekend.  Please follow your sponsor's instructions.

No, negative test results will not be accepted as an alternative to vaccination proof, except for those with a valid medical or religious exemption to vaccination.

You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you have received a second dose in a two-dose vaccine series (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna, WHO-listed vaccine) or two weeks after you have received a single-dose vaccine (i.e., Johnson & Johnson's Janssen). In addition to being fully vaccinated, NYU also requires that you receive your booster dose when eligible (based on CDC eligibility criteria).

NYU will allow a one-week grace period to schedule and receive the booster upon becoming eligible, after which point you are deemed non-compliant.

• Recipients of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines become eligible for their booster five months after their second dose.
• Recipients of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine become eligible two months after their single dose.
• Anyone (age 12+) who has received all the recommended doses of another WHO-listed vaccine that is not approved or authorized by the FDA, or completed a mix and match series composed of any combination of FDA-approved, FDA-authorized, or WHO-listed vaccines, becomes eligible for a booster five months after their last dose.

We can not accept documentation in languages other than English. We recommend that you get your documentation translated into English.

Please download your full vaccination details (including your name, birthdate, and the vaccination dates and manufacturer), not the QR code pass.

• Check to see if your state uses the Smart Health Card.
• Obtain the EU Digital COVID Certificate.
• Some state or regional districts have a vaccination portal that you can view and download vaccines administered in that state or region. Check with your local department of health.
• Many pharmacy chains can provide an app or print out of your vaccination details.
• Your medical provider or hospital may have an app or online medical record system that allows you to download, export, print, or review your vaccination record.
  

Yes, children who are old enough to be vaccinated are required to comply with NYU’s vaccination policy and show proof of vaccination.

• Children 5 years of age or older must be fully vaccinated and receive their booster when eligible.
• Children between 6 months and 4 years of age must be fully vaccinated.
• Children under 6 months are not required to be vaccinated. We recommend that children under 6 months receive a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours of Welcome Weekend or a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test taken within six hours.
  

You must comply with NYU’s vaccination policy in order to access NYU residence halls or other NYU settings and NYU-sponsored activities that take place off-campus, even if it differs from the vaccination requirements in your own country/region.

COVID-19 vaccines, including booster shots, are widely available in the United States for free. You can use the US or NYC vaccine finder to schedule a vaccination appointment for when you arrive in the United States. If you are receiving a booster shot, you will need to show proof of primary series vaccination (in English).
