4 Washington Place, Meyer Building Internal Renovations
Overview
NYU is renovating the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 9th floors of the Meyer Building, and installing new rooftop equipment. This project includes internal demolition, abatement, renovation work, and window work. Construction and renovation work will continue for the duration of the project.
Work Hours
- Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 8:00 pm
- Saturday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
- In instances where additional night or weekend work is required, community members will be given advanced notice.

Construction Update, August 31, 2022
- Contractors are scheduled to facilitate window replacement and materials deliveries.
- In accordance with the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), a boom truck to be staged on Mercer Street between Washington Place and West 4th Street on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
- The boom truck is scheduled will be onsite at 6:00am. The boom truck will be operational between 7:00am- 4:00pm. Flag personnel will be onsite for the duration of the work to monitor vehicular and pedestrain traffic around the site.

- Contractors are scheduled to perform interior demolition work the week of February 28. Interior demolition will take approximately two weeks to complete. Materials will be removed on the Mercer Street side of the building. Work hours will be 10:00 pm - 7:00 am.

At the direction of the Department of Transportation (DOT), a crane is scheduled to be staged in front of the building on Washington Place between Broadway and Mercer Street on Sunday, November 11.
The crane is scheduled to arrive at 6:00am on Saturday, and is required to lift mechanical equipment to the roof of the budiling.
Washington Place will be closed to thru traffic between Broadway and Mercer Street. The street will remain open to pedestriant traffic, and flagmen will be present to safely direct pedestrians while the crane is in use.
The street and sidewalks will be cleared and reopened by 4:00 pm.

Contractors are scheduled to continue the installation of sidewalk bridging around the perimeter of the building the week of August 6.
Contractors are scheduled to pour concrete for two upper floors of the building the week of August 6. As stipulated by the DOT, a concrete truck is scheduled to arrive on site at 7:00am directly in front of the building on Washington Place, and to remain there through 4:00pm. A large pipe will extend from the conrete truck and pump the concrete through a window. This work will require a partial lane closure on Washington Place directly in front of the building, and the elimination of parking on the north side of the street during working hours. A single lane of traffic will remain open, and flagmen will be present to direct pedestrian traffic.

Contractors are scheduled to begin the replacement of the first-floor windows on the west side of the building the week of January 16.
This work will require the installation of a plywood fence on Mercer Street next to the building facade in order to protect pedestrian safety. Installation of the fence is scheduled to occur the week of January 9. The street and sidewalk will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Window removal and replacement is scheduled to be complete, and the fence is scheduled to be removed, by the week of January 30.

At the direction of the Department of Transportation (DOT), a crane is scheduled to be staged in front of the building on Mercer Street between Washington Place and West 4th Street from Monday, November 28 - Tuesday, November 29.
The crane is scheduled to arrive at 9:00pm on Monday, November 28 and is required to lift an MRI machine into the first floor of the building.
Mercer Street will be closed to thru traffic between Waverly Place and West 4th Street, and pedestrian access will be restricted on Mercer Street between Washington Place and West 4th Street for the duration of the work. Flagmen will be present to safely direct pedestrians while the crane is in use.
The street and sidewalks will be cleared and reopened by 5:00 am on Tuesday, November 29.

A crane will be needed to replace rooftop mechanical equipment on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, October 5. The crane will be stationed on West 4th St, closing it to vehicular traffic between Mercer and Broadway. Pedestrians will be rerouted during crane operation. The crane will arrive during off-peak morning hours, but will not be set up until 8:00 am. Work is scheduled to finish by 5:00 pm. Rain dates are 9/21 and 10/11.

Scope of Work
