Overview

NYU is renovating the 9th, and 10th floor of the Silver Center, and installing new roof equipment. This project will include demolition, abatement, and sidewalk bridging with pipe scaffolding. This project is scheduled to begin in mid-May 2022 and continue until 2024. Sidewalk bridging with pipe scaffolding is scheduled to be installed in late-May.  

Work Hours

  • Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Neighbors will be given advanced notice of night or weekend work. 

Current Project Update

January 30, 2023

  • A packer truck will be staged for debris removal on Greene Street between Waverly Place and Washington Place. Work hours are scheduled for 9:00 pm to 12:00 am for Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2.

Scope of Work

  • The project consists of interior renovations, abatement, demolition, and sidewalk bridging with pipe scaffolding.
  • Contractors will follow safe abatement protocols for the removal of all hazardous materials.
  • A sidewalk shed will be installed along Washington Place, Washington Square East, and Waverly Place for pedestrian safety.
  • As with any active construction site, dust will be generated in the area immediately surrounding the work and noise will be generated by mechanical equipment.
