New York University is relocating the College of Arts and Science to a new facility at 25 West 4th Street. Work will include interior renovations and facade work. This project is scheduled to begin in January 2023 and continue  until 2024. 

Work Hours

  • Monday - Friday
    7:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Some night and weekend work may be required. Neighbors will be given advance notice of night or weekend work.

Current Project Update

January 9, 2024

  • Starting the week of January 22, contractors are scheduled to remove the existing water tank and its supporting steel structure off the roof of 25 West 4th St. Weather and site conditions permitting, this work is scheduled to continue through mid-February. 
  • This work will involve some moderate levels of noise associated with the dismantling of the structure. All materials will be loaded and unloaded from West 4th Street, in coordination with permitted street closures during the day.

Scope of Work

  • This project consists of demolition, interior renovations, abatement, window replacement, electrical and mechanical upgrades, and sidewalk and street repairs.
  • A sidewalk shed, hoist, and scaffolding will be installed along West 4th Street for pedestrian safety and to facilitate the movement of personnel and materials throughout the site. 
  • If any asbestos containing materials or ACM are found, contractors will use safe abatement protocols for the removal of all hazardous materials. 
  • As with any active construction site, dust will be generated in the area immediately surrounding the work and noise will be generated by mechanical equipment and hand held tools.
  • All work is weather and site conditions permitting.
