In spring 2020, NYU students around the globe had to adjust almost overnight to a radically different learning environment due to COVID-19. Since then, the NYU leadership team has been working to develop a comprehensive plan that will allow students, faculty, staff, and administrators to safely return to our global campuses in the fall. Here is the latest on how NYU plans to open, with a focus on safety, academics, and flexibility—and what you can expect for upcoming alumni events and programming:

  • The University is offering a unique “Go Local” program, a flexible in-person learning option for undergraduate students who cannot (or choose not to) travel to their home campus this fall.
  • NYU continues its phased reopening of research labs engaging in essential and time-sensitive research at NYU New York.
  • All NYU schools and units are actively involved in return planning and determining the appropriate mix of on-site and remote operations for the fall.
  • Following University guidance on campus activities and spaces, events and programs organized by the central NYU Office of Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, and Development teams will be conducted virtually through the rest of 2020.
As NYU continues to closely monitor global and local responses to COVID-19, the University’s top priority remains the safety of NYU community members. To stay abreast of return to work/campus updates, visit NYU's hub for coronavirus-related guidance information.
