The NYU Office of Alumni Relations recognizes that NYUAA volunteers are eager to organize safe and meaningful opportunities for alumni to gather in-person. In the interest of public health, we continue to encourage a virtual engagement strategy at this time. This includes events hosted, sponsored, or promoted by the NYU Alumni Association (NYUAA).
Proposals for any small, in-person gatherings must be (1) in accordance with local government regulations and (2) subject to approval by the NYU Restart Steering Committee. If you are interested in hosting an in-person program, please be in touch with your staff partner directly.
Thank you for your continued partnership and understanding as we work to keep our community safe.
Affinity Alumni Clubs
Affinity Alumni Clubs allow alumni to connect around a shared interest or affinity. Attending alumni club events gives you the change to meet, network, and share experiences with like-minded alumni. Affinity Alumni Clubs are open to all NYU alumni, regardless of school, college or degree type. Programs and events are held in the NYC metro area.
Regional Alumni Clubs
Regional Alumni Clubs create opportunities for alumni to connect in cities across the United States and countries around the world through professional, social, academic, cultural and service programs. Regional Alumni Clubs are open to all NYU alumni, regardless of school, college, or degree type. Programs and events are held outside the NYC metro area.
Types of Events and Programs
Below you will find sample events and programs hosted by Regional and Affinity Alumni Clubs.
5 Questions with Event
A series of online webinars presented by NYU alumni clubs featuring distinguished faculty and industry leaders sharing expertise on a variety of topics.
Affinity Spotlight Event
A signature Affinity Alumni Club event or program that corresponds to the specific interest of your community. For example, the Women’s Initiative once hosted “An Insider’s View of Women in the Military” during Fleet Week.
Alumni Access Event
Exclusive and experiential programs that emphasize the value and power of the NYU network. These events offer unique opportunities for alumni from all NYU schools and class years, and typically sell out very quickly. Programs range from smaller, more intimate gatherings of 30 people (e.g. private museum tour) to larger 75+ groups (e.g. show and talkback with an alumni cast member).
Alumni Global Days of Service
An annual volunteer engagement program that brings all NYU Alumni together to make a global impact through service in support of non-profit and charitable organizations in need. Alumni clubs participate in this program by hosting community service events such as serving food at a local shelter or planting trees in a neighborhood park.
Alumni Weekend Event
Annual events to coincide with NYU Alumni Weekend each October. For Affinity Alumni Clubs these events can be tied into Alumni Weekend programming at or near Washington Square. For Regional Alumni Clubs these events provide an opportunity for alumni who are unable to return to New York to remain connected to the university.
At Home with Event
A series of online webinars presented by NYU alumni clubs featuring distinguished alumni sharing expertise on a variety of topics.
Continued Learning Event
Events featuring a distinguished alumna/us or a local speaker who can present about a topic of interest and enable the alumni community to learn from local experts. This event may also be a panel of local NYU representatives (alumni, parents, and/or NYU friends).
NYU Escapes brings small groups of alumni together to visit exciting new places and participate in cultural, educational, or recreational activities. These events are one-to-two day trips organized by a Regional Alumni Club. Examples of NYU Escapes in Italy have included a private visit to the Sistine Chapel and conversation with a curator and a day trip to the Italian countryside for a vineyard tour and wine tasting.
NYU One Day
An opportunity for regional clubs to participate in NYU’s annual day of giving by organizing events in support of student scholarship or other fundraising initiatives.
Regional Spotlight Event
A signature event hosted by a Regional Alumni Club that corresponds to something that distinguishes that city or country. Examples have included a cherry blossom boat cruise in Washington, DC and a VIP night at the View from the Shard (the tallest building in Western Europe) in London.
These events connect alumni and current student at Washington Square and across NYU’s portal campuses and global academic centers. Current student-alumni programs include Dinner with 6; Distinguished Speaker Series; Executive Alumni Mentor Program; and Five under Five.
Welcome Happy Hour for New Graduates
An event to connect the newest alumni to your Alumni Club. You can plan a specific gathering in September to welcome newly graduated and newly relocated alumni to your community, or you can invite the new graduates to your Alumni Weekend celebration in October. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to engage new volunteers for your alumni club, and to promote future events!
