Spring Admission
Congratulations on your admission to NYU's Spring cohort!
Our admission process this year was more competitive than ever, and left us with students who we wanted to admit but could not accommodate in the fall. Your incredible academic achievement and talent have earned you a place at NYU. We believe you belong here.
Four of NYU’s undergraduate schools and colleges will enroll students starting in January.
Beginning your studies at NYU in January offers a number of unique benefits:
1. Spend Your Fall Developing New Skills
We encourage you to use the fall to take advantage of having this extra time. You could take a class or two at a local college approved by your academic advisor; work full- or part-time to earn extra money for college; complete an internship to gain experience in a professional environment; dedicate yourself to a service project; or travel and explore a place you’ve always wanted to visit.
2. Save Costs During Your First Year
In the first year, the cost of attendance for students who start in the Spring is estimated to be lower than for those who begin in the Fall. This is due in large part to the fact that student housing and dining costs in the required summer term are less than what they typically are during a full semester.
3. Join the NYU Community Before You Arrive
All students admitted for the spring semester will work closely with academic advisors who are knowledgeable about the academic resources and pathways at NYU, as well as the special demands of participating in this accelerated program. You will be contacted by your school representatives over the summer to begin discussions about your academic plans. In addition, you will hear from faculty, staff and student mentors throughout the fall to help you learn more about NYU and the academic and social choices you will have.
4. Prepare for Future Success
Spring Admission is designed to allow you to graduate on the same date as students who start in the fall. Alumni from NYU’s Liberal Studies, Steinhardt, and Tandon schools have gone on to pursue graduate school and a wide-range of exciting professional paths.
If I could describe my experience at NYU through Spring Admissions in one word, it would be fulfilling. - Maiya
The gap semester was incredibly beneficial. I was able to take acting classes at different studios and was able to act in six student films. - John
