Students interested in applying for a summer scholarship should submit their Precollege application by March 15 and indicate an interest in receiving a scholarship in their Precollege admission application.
Space in campus housing is limited. Summer students interested in living on campus are advised to submit their Precollege admission application no later than May 1 to increase their chances of securing a spot in housing.
Application Instructions
- To start your application, fill out the Precollege Application Account Creation Form. On this form, you will be asked to provide some basic information such as name, date of birth, and email, in order to create your account in our application system.
- Upon submission of the Application Account Creation Form, you will receive an email containing a temporary PIN and instructions for finalizing your application account setup. Please follow these steps carefully.
- To resume your application, log into the Application Management page and proceed through the application. Please pay close attention to the information on the Instructions page for guidelines regarding submission of the application and any required supplemental documents.
- After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email. Within a few days, you will receive a second email containing your NYU account log-in credentials and instructions for accessing your applicant portal, where you can check the status of your application and any missing documents.
Please note: The NYU Precollege Application is only used for the Precollege admissions process. Admission to and/or participation in this program does not guarantee admission to any of NYU's schools or colleges. Students interested in applying to an undergraduate degree program must follow the application procedures set forth by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Application Requirements
All Precollege applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- Official High School Transcript
- Applicants must submit an official transcript to complete their application. Transcripts can be uploaded directly to the application on the Academic History page, uploaded after submission through the applicant portal, or emailed to admissions.docs@nyu.edu.
- Your transcript should include all coursework beginning with 9th grade. If you attended multiple institutions during high school, official copies must be obtained from all high schools attended.
- Please include an official translation for any documents that are not in English.
- English Language Testing

- Personal Statement (Optional)
- Tell us about who you are, as a student and a person, in 250-500 words (approximately 1 page typed). You may select a topic of your choice, or answer the following question: Describe an experience that has impacted who you are as a person. What is special, unique, distinctive, or impressive about you or your life story?
- Application Charge
- After submitting your application, you will be directed to pay a non-refundable $50 application charge.
Dates and Deadlines
We strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible to NYU Precollege, as there is limited space in the program. NYU admits students to the program on a rolling basis.
Applications submitted after the final deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis. Any supporting documents sent by mail must be postmarked by the final application deadline.
