Precollege Parents & Families
We hope the information you and your student find on this website is helpful as your student prepares to study at NYU. As a parent or guardian, the best thing you can do to assist your student with preparations is to discuss NYU Precollege with one another. Conversations about what to expect while studying at NYU and experiencing life as an undergraduate student can be immensely helpful.
Students sometimes begin the program with little information about what they need to do or what their experience will be like at NYU, because parents take the lead on preparations. If you are overseeing program preparations, we encourage you to include your student. It will help them know what to expect before classes begin and get the most out of their NYU experience.
All website information may be helpful to you, but the following are highlights for parents:
NYU High School Programs Handbook
Federal Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA)
Parent Orientation
Parents are welcome to virtually attend their own program orientation at which they can interact with program staff, ask questions about their student’s studies and NYU, and learn more about the program and the NYU Precollege experience. Information about the parent orientation will be sent to students before the start of the program.
