Additional Funding
There are many opportunities to find additional funding for study abroad, but it requires advance planning and some work. Some general types:
- In most cases, you do NOT need to have been accepted into your study abroad program at the time of scholarship application so do not wait!
- Check the eligibility guidelines for each scholarship before you begin applying.
- Check the on-line application deadline date. The deadlines vary widely. And again, they usually do not align with NYU Study Away deadlines.
- Some scholarships have only one application deadline for the entire academic year.
- If your application requires a letter of recommendation or certification from your study away adviser, give him or her plenty of lead time.
- Don't limit yourself to just study abroad scholarships. Reconsider some of the scholarships you may have overlooked or didn't get when first applying to NYU.
