Guidelines for Planning Remote-Taught and Networked Courses
NYU Global Programs is committed to supporting the academic progress of students. When students studying away have academic needs that cannot be met locally, we will work with departments and schools to find a solution. If local alternatives cannot be found, we will endeavor to support remote-taught courses while remaining compliant with immigration and accreditation regulations.
When considering a remote-taught (online) course for students studying at one of the Global Academic Centers,1 please keep in mind the following points:
- Site Specific Visa and Accreditation Regulations at some sites, (noted below) limit remote instruction possibilities.
- Requests for regularly scheduled remote-taught or networked classroom space should be submitted via the Request Form by February 15th for the Fall semester and September 15th for the Spring semester.
- The University provides a variety of services to facilitate remote and networked instruction. Further information and support for these services can be found on the Instructional Video and Web Conferencing page.
- To ensure that conflicts with orientation are avoided, regularly scheduled remote-taught courses should not begin prior to the start of classes at each academic center. Please refer to the Global Academic Center Calendars for start dates.
- Given limitations on classroom space, staff, and technology-support resources, all regularly scheduled remote or networked instruction must take place during the hours noted at the bottom of this page.
