The Global Engagement Symposium is a gathering of NYU community members designed to showcase student engagement through international opportunities (international student enrollment in New York; student movement through degree-granting campuses, global academic centers and exchange partner universities).
The symposium will be held on NYU’s New York campus at the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center (53 Washington Square South). Students at NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai and NYU’s global academic centers will be able to participate in the symposium remotely via online platforms.
Applicants must be currently matriculated NYU sophomores, juniors or seniors in good academic standing and good judicial standing.
The symposium is open to undergraduate international students, current and former study away participants, and exchange students engaged locally in service opportunities, research, and internships while away from their “home” countries and/or “home” campuses.
Yes, this is fine. The symposium committee welcomes and encourages a variety of submissions from students across all of NYU’s degree-granting campuses and study away sites.
Travel to New York is not required for participation and transportation is not provided. Selected proposals will be featured electronically via the symposium’s online portal.
The deadline to submit a proposal for in-person or web-based presentations is February 9, 2018.
All notifications will be sent via email by February 14, 2018.
No, it is not an automatic excuse. It is up to the participant to contact faculty members to request any academic accommodations related to participation in the symposium, and to work with professors to make up missed work if possible. We will be happy to provide documentation of your participation to your professors.
