During your first few days in Madrid, you will attend orientation to help you get acclimated to NYU, NYU Madrid, and the city. The NYU Madrid staff will provide guidance on getting from the airport to your residence. Over the next few days an in-depth orientation will cover topics pertinent to every day life in Madrid —from banking and cell phones, to local customs, navigating the city, the academic policies and facilities, particular courses that involve the city in specific ways, and the role of the student life staff. A survival Spanish workshop, a neighborhood walking tour, a welcome reception conclude your first few days.
By the time you arrive in Madrid, you'll already have registered for your classes. Advisers at NYU Madrid will assist you with changing your language class if needed. You'll buy your books at local bookstores; many required readings will also be available on reserve at the NYU Center.
