About

NYU's Cross-Cutting Initiative on Inequality, sponsored by the Office of the President and Office of the Provost, is partnering with The OpEd Project to fund the Write to Change the World OpEd Project Fellowship for summer 2021. Fellows will attend virtual workshop sessions based on time-tested models of transformational learning that are designed to unlock knowledge in powerful and unexpected ways and will gain ongoing access to resources and mentorships through the OpEd Project.

From The OpEd Project website:

In The OpEd Project’s highly-interactive, energetic Write to Change the World seminar, we explore the source of credibility and how to establish it; how to present ideas quickly and powerfully under pressure; the components of powerful, evidence-based argument; the difference between being “right” and being effective; and strategies for making a greater impact, including how to escape a pigeonhole, how to preach beyond the choir, and the value of seeing your argument as part of a bigger picture—and yourself as part of a larger public conversation.  In addition, we are able to accompany participants in exercises designed to expand the way they think about their particular expertise, and help them “translate” niche ideas (which they raised during the first day) into large themes, and to explore pitching. Participants leave the first day with a draft outline of an op-ed in hand.  Participants will have ongoing access to OpEd Project resources, events and mentors.
