Automotive engineering and design might not immediately come to mind when you think “New York City” and “Brooklyn,” but NYU’s Tandon Motorsports program is firing on all cylinders. In the few years since such like-minded engineering students as Marcus Cheung and Rachel Stolzman—who drove a finished car in two competitions—joined forces, the club has grown to more than 40 members. Using innovative materials that optimize the power-to-weight ratio and a whole lote more, the NYU Tandon Motorsports team explores how technology drives the combination of design and manufacturing in building the cars of the future. Building cars on the cutting edge of technology may be the goal of NYU’s Tandon Motorsports, but there’s no denying the fun had by every member of the team.
