NYU today announced that applications for the Class of 2026 exceed 105,000—a 5% increase over the historic numbers from last year, when NYU surpassed 100,000 for the first time, and among the highest number of applications received by any US university.

This is the 15th year in a row of record-setting application numbers at NYU, and applications have more than doubled during that period. This year’s increase in applications is spread across NYU’s undergraduate schools, underscoring NYU’s strength across fields of study, as well as across all of NYU’s degree-granting campuses—New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai.

NYU received over 19,000 Early Decision (ED) applications, a 12% increase over fall 2021. This includes increases in first generation, underrepresented, and international applicants.

“We understand that this is another particularly challenging admissions season for many families, and we are both humbled and delighted that NYU continues to be the first choice for such a diverse and talented cohort of college-going students, '' says MJ Knoll-Finn, NYU’s Senior Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success.

NYU’s application deadline was Wednesday, January 5, 2022. More detailed information on the applicant pool will come shortly.
