President Andrew Hamilton made the following remarks at the University Senate meeting on Feb. 24, 2022.
"I am sure I speak for the entire NYU community in deploring the unwarranted and unprovoked attack and invasion that have begun against Ukraine. It is hard to hear the words "War in Europe" without being filled with dread and sorrow, without imagining the lives lost and disrupted, without a sense of horror at the inevitable destruction, and without grief for the breaking of the peace we so prize.
"Let us keep in our thoughts and our hearts the Ukrainian people, and particularly the civilians and non-combatants who, without any say in the matter, find themselves in the midst of hostilities. And let us hope that diplomacy and peacemaking brings this breach of international security and peace to a swift end."
