“NYU is disturbed and outraged by the presence of a swastika drawn on the scaffolding outside one of our buildings near Waverly and Broadway. The swastika is a universally revoltinging symbol of hate and white supremacy, and particularly a symbol of anti-Semitism and terror directed at Jewish people. Everything it represents is at odds with the values of the NYU community—diversity, equity, inclusion, respect for human and individual rights.

“The drawing was swiftly removed by maintenance crews, and the matter has been reported to Campus Safety, which will investigate. If the drawing is found to be done by anyone in the NYU community, they will be subject to swift and serious disciplinary action.

“The University condemns this act of revolting vandalism, and wants the Jewish members of the community to know that it will continue to reject and oppose anti-Semitism.”
