NYU Steinhardt doctoral student Bill Meyer is the author of two guides to bringing meditation into the K-12 classroom. In response to the Common Core educational standards, his research points to the need for a "contemplative core"—principles that consider wellness, service, and identity formation in the life of a student.

"There are a lot more layers for adults—it takes them a bit longer to drop into a meditation. With students, they’re willing to go almost anywhere if they trust you and you’ve created a safe space."
