The 2020 Grammy nominations are in—and we spy a few familiar names on the list! It’s no secret that NYU alumni and faculty are some of today’s biggest hitmakers. Whether it’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music alumna Maggie Rogers’ ethereal pop-folk sound and phenomenal success earning her a nod for ‘Best New Artist,’ veteran audio engineer and Tisch faculty member Jim Anderson boasting 28 Grammy-nominated recordings in his portfolio, or Steinhardt faculty members and powerhouse composers Julia Wolfe and Caroline Shaw scoring nominations for their contemporary classical work, this year’s list has us beaming with #VioletPride.

The NYU alumni community is 500,000 strong—roughly the same population size as Atlanta!—and as such, we’re still combing through the list to find every alumnus who qualifies for a 2020 Grammy nomination. The below list will be updated leading up to the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on January 26, where will celebrate our community’s impressive accomplishments in recorded music.

This year's nominees span Tisch's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, with alumni recognized for their work in major categories including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Rap Album; Graduate Acting; Drama; the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television; and Steinhardt's Music and Performing Arts department. Please join us in congratulating the following alumni and faculty nominated for a Grammy Award!
