Facing uncertain support from Washington, D.C., mayors from around the country will convene at a public forum at NYU to discuss their inventive approaches to long-standing public challenges.
In the face of uncertain and vacillating support from the federal government, local governments are uniquely positioned to find innovative solutions to today’s toughest problems. A growing number of mayors are stepping up and driving creative and dynamic urban transformation across the United States.
Please join NYU Wagner, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the David Bohnett Foundation on Wednesday, April 18, at 6 p.m. for a lively and timely discussion with a panel of leading mayors. They will discuss how they are changing their respective cities to meet today’s unique challenges—bringing forth big, bold, and inventive ideas that tackle issues such as immigration, the opioid crisis, criminal justice, and infrastructure challenges.
The event is free and open to the public. Speakers include The Honorable John Giles, Mayor of Mesa, AZ; The Honorable Nan Whaley, Mayor of Dayton, OH; The Honorable Pete Buttigieg, Mayor of South Bend, IN; The Honorable Toni Harp, Mayor of New Haven, CT. The moderator will be Eleanor Randolph, New York Times Contributing Writer and Fellow at the Leon Levy Center for Biography, The Graduate Center, CUNY.
