New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study will host “Diamond Alice,” a workshop production of a new musical, in October at its Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts (1 Washington Place [at Broadway]).

Created by Ben Steinfeld (“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” “Cymbeline,” “Into the Woods”), a part-time Gallatin faculty member and Fiasco Theater co-artistic director, and Broadway veteran Alexander Gemignani (“Les Misérables,” “Assassins,” “Sweeney Todd”), the performance centers on the Forty Elephants Gang, an all-female shoplifting ring that mesmerized and terrorized London in the early 20th century.

The performances are free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For more information, please call 212.992.7762. Subways: N, R (8th St.); 6 (Astor Pl.).
