Peggy Loar, veteran arts administrator, museum trailblazer, and current Museum Director at Asia Society, will be interviewed by historian and curator Roger Mandle as part of NYU Steinhardt’s CEOs in the Arts, an ongoing series presented by the Council on Arts Management Programs at the NYU Steinhardt School.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. at the NYU Steinhardt Barney Building, located at 34 Stuyvesant Street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues at 9th Street. Subway Lines: A,B,C,D,E,F,M (W. 4th St.); N, R (8th St.-NYU); 6 (Astor Place).
Loar, who also holds the title of Interim Vice President for Global Arts and Culture at Asia Society, has over 40 years of experience in museum planning, management, design, and programming. She was founding director of the Wolfsonian Museum and Research Center and COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts prior to serving as director of the National Museum of Qatar. Before joining Asia Society in 2015, she was interim director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
Roger Mandle is currently President and CEO of Roger Mandle Associates, which provides high level consulting services to arts and education institutions in transition. He is also the former president of the Rhode Island School of Design, and prior to that served as deputy director and chief curator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
The Council on Arts Management Program’s CEOs in the Arts Series was established to host conversations with leading arts executives to explore the strategies, challenges, and goals of national and international arts venues. Previous guests have included Karen Brooks Hopkins, President of BAM; Glenn Lowry, Director of MoMA; Paul Kellogg, former artistic and general director of the New York City Opera; and Tamara Conniff, former Executive Editor and Associate Publisher of Billboard magazine.
