New York University College of Nursing today announced the appointment of James C. Pace, PhD, MDiv, ANP, BC, FAANP, FAAN, as NYU College of Nursing’s Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, effective September 1, 2015. Dr. Pace is currently a Clinical Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the College.

New York University College of Nursing today announced the appointment of James C. Pace, PhD, MDiv, ANP, BC, FAANP, FAAN, as NYU College of Nursing’s Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, effective September 1, 2015. Dr. Pace is currently a Clinical Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the College.

“Jim will bring his robust depth of experience in teaching, mentorship, and academic program administration from his years at NYU, Emory, Vanderbilt, and the University of Alabama, Birmingham to this role,” said Eileen M. Sullivan-Marx, PhD, RN, FAAN, Dean & Erline Perkins McGriff Professor of the College of Nursing. “In particular, Jim’s background and his vision to integrate research, practice, and education locally and globally are an excellent fit for this position in which he will work with faculty, staff, and administration to implement continued and growing excellence and innovation in our academic enterprise.

“Among Jim’s numerous qualifications that made his candidacy stand out during the search process, I was particularly excited by the diversity of his past leadership experience, as well as his highly effective, collaborative, and compassionate leadership style. Jim has forged excellent relationships here at NYU among our clinical partners and the University administration, serving on several University leadership committees.

About James C. Pace PhD, MDiv, ANP, BC, FAANP, FAAN:

Dr. Pace is currently the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program at the New York University College of Nursing holding the rank of Clinical Associate Professor.

Dr. Pace is a board certified adult nurse practitioner and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. His extensive teaching experience spans three decades; he has taught previously at three Schools of Nursing: the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Emory, and Vanderbilt Universities.

Prior to joining the NYU College of Nursing, Dr. Pace was the Director of the Adult Nurse Practitioner/Palliative Care Program at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Pace has held various Nurse Faculty Practice appointments to include working as a nurse practitioner at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center as well as Evening Chaplain at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Pace’s scholarly interests and activities lie in the areas of spirituality/religion and health, palliative/hospice care, and HIV/AIDS and spirituality. Dr. Pace is also an Episcopal priest who serves the Diocese of New York as an assisting priest at The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Times Square.
