From lending a combined 498 hours of service to 200 critters at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, to serving the poor alongside the Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra in Salinas, California, students participating in NYU’s Alternative Breaks program went where they were needed this January.
In the Dominican Republic, students taught English immersion classes to a total of about 100 first- through fifth-graders each day. In Udaipur, India, they delivered healthcare and youth education trainings that will be implemented in 600 local institutions.
