An unprecedented opportunity to see and hear for the first time on one stage three rock ‘n’ roll bands comprising New York University faculty—scientists, shrinks, and film scholars—rocking out together in a three-hour concert.

Scientists, Shrinks, Film Scholars and Rock ‘n’ Roll!
Members of Amygdaloids: (Left to right) Amanda Thorpe, Joe LeDoux, Daniela Schiller, Tyler Volk; not shown are Tamas Madarasz and Jon Kanen.

The evening, entitled Group Therapy, has been organized to raise money for student scholarships in the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation program at the Tisch School of the Arts.  The scholarship fund is named for Cinema Studies Department Professor Emeritus Robert Sklar, who died in 2011

The nonstop evening of music and fun will be held on Friday, February 8 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the multi-media art cabaret (Le) Poisson Rouge, located at 158 Bleecker Street, New York City.  Performing will be the Amygdaloids, representing NYU Neuroscience; SIG!!!, from the Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis at NYU; and Thaumatrope, members of the NYU’s Cinema Studies Department.  Special guests Eliza Callahan and Jack Staffen will open the evening.

Tickets range from $100 to $10 for a student ticket.  For detailed information and to arrange for tickets, contact Liza Greenfield at liza.greenfield@nyu.edu or 212.998.1615.
