NYU's Taub Center for Israel Studies will host film scholar Raz Yosef for a public lecture, “Identity of the Victim: Trauma and Ethics in Current Israeli Cinema,” on Tuesday, November 27, 6-7:30 p.m., at NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center (first-floor screening room), 53 Washington Square South (between Thompson and Sullivan Streets).

This event had originally been scheduled for October 30, but was postponed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Yosef is a senior lecturer and the head of the undergraduate cinema studies program at Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television. His published works include: “Beyond Flesh: Queer Masculinities and Nationalism in Israeli Cinema” (Rutgers University Press, 2004); “To Know a Man: Masculinity, Sexuality and Ethnicity in Israeli Cinema”; and “The Politics of Loss and Trauma in Contemporary Israeli Cinema”.
