NYU’s Gallatin to School to Host Panel Discussion, “Patriot Acts: Narratives of Post 9/11 Injustice”—Sept. 13
The Gallatin School of Individualized Study will host “Patriot Acts: Narratives of Post 9/11 Injustice,” a roundtable discussion, on Tuesday, September 13, 7-8:30 p.m. at its Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Panelists will include: Alia Malek, the editor of Patriot Acts (Voices of Witness/McSweeney’s, 2011), several contributors to the collection, Imam Khalid Latif of NYU’s Islamic Center, and Gallatin student Ebadur Rahman. Gallatin’s Scott Korb, author of the forthcoming America, Meet Islam (Beacon, 2013), will moderate.

The discussion will center on Malek’s book, which is comprised of 18 oral histories of Americans who recount personal experiences of the post-9/11 backlash that have altered their lives and communities, as well as on the place of Islam in America.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 212.998.7370 or email gallatin.global@nyu.edu. Reporters wishing to attend the event must RSVP to James Devitt, NYU’s Office of Public Affairs, at 212.998.6808 or james.devitt@nyu.edu.

The event is co-sponsored with Project Palestine.
