One-Night-Only Performance is Free and Open to the Public

New York University in France (NYU Paris) will present an original bilingual, experimental musical-theatre piece entitled L’Oeil qui voit (Seeing Eye) for one night only on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at 7 p.m.  It will be performed in the Rosenthal Pavilion at NYU’s Kimmel Center for University Life, 60 Washington Square South, 10th floor, in New York.  Space is limited and reservations are recommended.  RSVP: nyuparis@nyu.edu or telephone 212.998.7625.

L’Oeil qui voit has been described as a Cubist-Dada cabaret and features the works of Guillaume Apollinaire, Louis Aragon, Hans Arp, Antonin Artaud, Blaise Cendrars, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Erik Satie, Gertrude Stein, and Tristan Tzara.  It was conceived and directed first in Paris by NYU in Paris faculty member Cécile Cotté, a theater director and writer who trained with Jacques Lecoq.  Original music, soundtrack, and props are by Stéphane Scott.  The performers are students from the 2010/11 NYU Paris study abroad program.  They are: Oliver Budiardjo, Lucrecia Carrara, Justin Chiao, Ifigenia Gonis, Maria Lancheros, Sabrina Mesa, Lisandra Novo, Allison Taaffe, Tamara Zverinskaya, and Stéphane Scott on the piano.

The NYU Center in Paris is located on the Right Bank near the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero. Courses are available at the NYU Center, at the University of Paris, and at the Institut d'Études Politiques. All students take a required workshop in French Language and Culture, which is an intensive two-week, French class at the start of the program and continue to study French for the rest of the semester. All courses maintain a tight focus on France - its history, politics, literature, and arts - and are offered in both French and English.
