Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of 9/11
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. While today NYU is manifestly "in and of the world," it is first and foremost "in and of the city," in and of New York. We draw our character, our vitality, our strength, even our vision of global engagement from the city whose name we bear; if it is important to New York City, it is important to New York University. In the 180 years since NYU first opened its doors, few days have left a more indelible impression on our city and our university community, and few events have called forth a greater range of emotions: sorrow, courage, fear, pride, but – most of all – perseverance, hope, and resolve.
As we approach the 10th anniversary, we have complied the events listed here so that we may join our fellow New Yorkers in reflecting upon and remembering an event that changed the heart and face of our city forever, and thinking about its future.
