Concert is Free and Open to the Public; Program of Moscheles, Schoenberg, and Schubert

The NYU Symphony Orchestra, a premiere orchestral group in New York University’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, will perform a program of Moscheles, Schoenberg, and Schubert at the Church of St. Joseph in Greenwich Village on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. 

The concert is free and open to the public.  It will take place at 8:00 p.m.  The Church of St. Joseph is located at 361 6th Avenue (between Washington Place and Waverly Place), New York City. The NYU Symphony Orchestra is led by the German-born conductor Jens Georg Bachmann, who has most notably served as assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and as resident conductor of the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Germany.

The program will feature NYU students Gina Izzo and Kimberly Everett, winners of the 2011 Steinhardt Wind Competition, performing the Concertante in F Major for Flute and Oboe by   the 18th century Bohemian composer and piano virtuoso Ignaz Moscheles (1794-1870).  The program will also include Schoenberg’s Kammersymphonie No. 2 and Schubert’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major.
