The director of the Moral Courage Project at NYU will appear with Wall Street Journal "Global View" columnist Bret Stephens.

Irshad Manji to Deliver Talk on 'Allah, Liberty and Love' - Nov. 14

What prevents young Muslims, even in the West, from expressing their need for religious reinterpretation? What scares non-Muslims about openly supporting liberal voices within Islam?

Irshad Manji, director of the Moral Courage Project at New York University and      author of the just-published book “Allah, Liberty and Love,” takes on these and other questions with Wall Street Journal “Global View” columnist Bret Stephens on Monday, November 14, starting at 8:00 p.m.

This “Newman Lecture” event, “Reconciling Allah, Liberty, and Love,” takes place at the 92nd St. Y, Buttenwieser Hall, Lexington Avenue and 92nd Street, New York, N.Y. Tickets are still available.

Why, asks Manji, a prominent Muslim reformer and a visiting scholar at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at NYU, do we tolerate intolerable customs, such as honor killings, and how do we change that status quo? How can people—within Islam and within other faiths as well—transcend dogma while keeping faith? She describes how we can all embark on a personal journey toward moral courage—the willingness to speak truth even in the most difficult of circumstances.
