These and 82 other issues of public policy, management, health, and finance were systematically tackled this year by students from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. The student teams addressed these invariably complex challenges for major local, regional, and international organizations under the school’s Capstone Program.
On Tuesday, May 10, the teams will gather for the 2011 Capstone Expo at New York University. Each team will mount a small exhibit in the Rosenthal Pavilion at The Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South (at LaGuardia Place). With photographs, writings, and charts at the ready, the graduate students will offer summaries of their work and respond to questions from any and all attendees touring the exhibits.
The Expo takes place from 5:00-to-6:30 p.m. A reception follows.
The Capstone Expo presents a centerpiece of the NYU Wagner Master’s program – the Capstone Program itself. A part of the school’s core curriculum, the Capstone Program enables students to work in a team during an academic year addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for a client organization, or conducting research on a pressing social question. Students are able to experience first-hand turning the theory of their studies into practice under the guidance of seasoned faculty members.
This year, Wagner students worked on projects for nonprofit, government, and private organizations, ranging from the World Bank to Standard & Poor’s, and from the Jordan River Foundation to the Office of the Bronx Borough President. Descriptions of this year’s 84 projects will be available as a booklet at the Expo.
