In his role as director, Health Science Libraries and Knowledge Informatics, Rambo will work closely with Carol Mandel, the dean of the Division of Libraries at New York University, to ensure university-wide collaboration that will enhance teaching and research support services in the biosciences and knowledge informatics for both NYULMC and NYU at Washington Square.

He has served the University of Washington in a variety of academic and managerial roles in library science for nearly two decades.

Rambo received his undergraduate degree in cell and molecular biology and his master's in library and information science, both from the University of Washington. He completed a postgraduate internship at the National Library of Medicine at NIH. In 2004, he was selected for the inaugural cohort of the Research Library Leadership Fellows Program by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), an executive leadership program for the development of future senior-level leaders in large research libraries. Rambo also served as a visiting program officer at ARL, developing programs to support e-science.

Rambo brings with him a unique depth and breadth of experience in informatics and academic medicine and will be an invaluable asset to the entire Medical Center and health-related schools of the University. Our medical library has set an ambitious strategic vision of world-class excellence in support of our Medical Center's goals by providing state-of-the-art tools and services that enhance patient safety, quality and satisfaction; support all education efforts including C21 and academic scholarship among faculty and students; and advance biomedical research and increase research productivity.
