This fall, Mexico will observe the bicentennial of its independence movement and the centennial of the Mexican revolution. To celebrate these two important historic events, the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center at New York University will show a monthly repertoire of film shorts, historical feature films, documentaries, and rare brief shorts restored from original early 20th century film footage.

"Mexico: Independence and Revolution" Film Series at King Juan Carlos I Center this Fall

This fall, Mexico will observe the bicentennial of its independence movement and the centennial of the Mexican revolution. To celebrate these two important historic events, the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center at New York University will show a monthly repertoire of film shorts, historical feature films, documentaries, and rare brief shorts restored from original early 20th century film footage.

The screenings, which are open to the public and free of charge, take place at 53 Washington Square South. No reservations are necessary but space is limited. Films are in Spanish except where otherwise noted. For more information, the public can call 212.998.3650 or visit www.nyu.edu/kjc.

The film series, “Mexico: Independence and Revolution,” is curated by Dan Sandford, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, with assistance from Professor Reyes Bercini, Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC) UNAM, Mexico.
