The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Rabhan as associate arts professor and chair of the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music. Rabhan is an experienced artist manager and music industry executive. His appointment took effect January 1, 2010.
The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Rabhan as associate arts professor and chair of the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music. Rabhan is an experienced artist manager and music industry executive. His appointment took effect January 1, 2010. As artist manager, Rabhan has shopped and oversaw the signing of a number of well-known artists including multiplatinum pop-rockers Michelle Branch and Hanson, among others.
His multimedia management company, Three Ring Projects, helped to guide the careers of both emerging and established acts, such as acclaimed American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin, chart-topping siren Kelly Rowland, and urban-music hitmaker Jermaine Dupri. He also took the career reins of Grammy-nominated and Grammy-award winning artists Kelis and Everlast. In addition, he has worked closely with Sony Music Japan International as a marketing consultant to complement their efforts in reaching a worldwide audience for their artists.
Before branching out on his own, Rabhan was a partner at the entertainment company The Firm for five years. Subsequently he was an executive in the music industry where he first served at Atlantic Records as senior director of A&R and Soundtracks. And prior to that he was with Elektra Records where he became executive director in charge of soundtracks and oversaw releases such as the Beautiful Girls and Four Rooms, among many others.
He worked closely with leading top-tier acts such as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, Korn and Enrique Iglesias. And he helped to develop the soundtracks to blockbuster films such as Scream, assisted in the exploitation of The DoorsÂ’ catalog of rock classics, as well as contributed to such publications as Rolling Stone and HITS.
Rabhan was born in Savannah, Ga., and raised in Richmond, Va. He earned his B.A. in Journalism from NYU. Shortly after graduating he began his career writing for Rolling Stone.
