NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center Hosts Poetry Reading Series

            A series of three poetry readings will be hosted this spring by New York University’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South.  The readings are free and open to the public.  For more information, call 212.998.3650 or visit www.nyu.edu/kjc.

 

            On Thursday, February 11, at 7 p.m., two poets from Catalan, Spain will be featured:  Melcion Mateu and Andreu GomilaThe reading will be in Catalan and Spanish and is co-sponsored by Instituto Ramón Llull, Barcelona, with the support of The Catalan Center at NYU.

 

            On Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m., two Peruvian poets will read:  Carlos Germán Belli and Mariela Dreyfus.

 

            On Thursday, April 29, at 7 p.m., Raúl Zurita will be reading from the newly published edition of Purgatory (The University of California Press, 2010), translated by Anne Deeny.

 

            A reception will follow the poetry readings, which are co-sponsored by NYU’s MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish Program.

 

            This series is curated by Lila Zemborain, clinical professor in the NYU Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures.
