The Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will feature the work of 20 designers from its MFA graduating class of 2010 in a week-long exhibition.
The Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will feature the work of 20 designers from its MFA graduating class of 2010 in a week-long exhibition. The annual event attracts hundreds of producers, directors, established designers, other entertainment industry professionals, as well as the general public who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.
Entitled Design Show 2010, the exhibition will go on view May 5 and remain through May 12. The show is free and open to the public daily from noon to 8 p.m. (A special preview showing will be held Tuesday, May 4, from 3 – 5 p.m. followed by a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. And on Saturday, May 8, from 2p.m. - 5p.m. the designers will be on hand to discuss their work.) Admission is free. It is installed at the Tisch School of the Arts, 3rd floor Design Studio, located at 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Place). The showcase will include the work of some of the best young talent emerging in the professional design field. It will comprise hundreds of designs for realized productions, and class projects for the theatre, film, and dance, in a wide variety of media, including scale models, costumes, production photographs, and sketches.
The designers—scenery, costume, lighting, and production design—are all members of the 2010 graduating class and have completed the three-year MFA program. They are: Brenda Abbandandolo, Neslihan Arslan, Brett J. Banakis, Alexios G. Chrysikos, Marte Johanne Ekhougen, Tilly Grimes, Caite Hevner, Carolyn Hoffmann, Carisa Kelly, Bradley King, Nick Kolin, Haley Lieberman, Amanda Clegg Lyon, Sydney Maresca, David Meyer, Pilyoung Oh, Annie Simon, Nick Solyom, Eric Southern, and Bruce Steinberg.
