Digital Broadcast from the UK’s National Theatre in London, Oct. 9

Directed by Marianne Elliott with a cast led by Oliver Ford Davies and Clare Higgins

New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will screen a digital satellite broadcast of the London production of the National Theatre’s All’s Well That Ends Well, by William Shakespeare, on Friday, October 9 at 7:00 pm. The production, recorded in high definition, will be fed to over 270 cinemas and performing arts centers around the world.

All’s Well That Ends Well is the second play in the pilot season of NT Live, an initiative of the National Theatre which launched in June with the broadcast of Phèdre, starring Helen Mirren. Phèdre was seen by 50,000 people in 19 countries. NT Live performances are nominated in advance to allow cameras greater freedom throughout the auditorium. All’s Well That Ends Well will be the first play broadcast from the largest of the National’s three theatres, the Olivier, with its fan-shaped auditorium and open stage.

Set against a backdrop of sexism, snobbery, and a battle between the generations, All’s Well That Ends Well turns fairytale logic on its head in a wondrous, bittersweet story. The National Theatre production is directed by Marianne Elliot. Oliver Ford Davies leads as the King of France, Clare Higgins as the Countess of Rossillion, Conleth Hill is Parolles, George Rainsford plays Bertram and Michelle Terry is Helena.

The presentation runs 2 hours and 55 minutes, including a 25-minute interval, and a 15-minute pre-show. NT Live events are supported internationally by Travelex and are distributed outside the UK through New York-based BY Experience, Inc.

Tickets are $12-$25 and may be purchased: online at www.skirballcenter.nyu.edu, by phone at 212.352.3101 (toll-free 866.811.4111), or in person at the Skirball Center Box Office.
