Horst Schlämmer, alter-ego of Kerkeling, usually works as the deputy editor of a fictitious German newspaper. But now, Schlämmer is running for public office. And not just any public office-Schlämmer wants to be chancellor. He therefore founds the Horst Schlämmer Party (HSP) and causes Horstian turbulences among the other listed parties. The Cantor Film Center screening of Isch Kandidiere! (directed and produced by Angelo Colagrossi) occurs one day before Germanys Election Day.
The HSP eventually receives a spot on the ballot and on Election Sunday, party leader Schlämmer and his friends follow the spectacle at their favorite bar in Grevenbroich. Their eyes are fixed on the monitor when the first polls come in: excitement! Did Horst really make it? Will he be our next Chancellor? Or does fate hold much more for him?
