Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN is the Erline Perkins McGriff Professor and Dean of the College of Nursing at New York University, has been elected to the membership of the Healthcare Executive Forum (HCEF), a membership of women executives in healthcare.

“We are pleased to congratulate Dean Terry Fulmer on her newly appointed membership to HCEF,” says Joyce Bove, President, HCEF.

The members of HCEF meet throughout the year to discuss healthcare policy and practice standards. HCEF provides the opportunity for executive women to discuss leadership in organizations that provide healthcare services.

“The importance of improving healthcare is something I care very deeply about,” says Dean Terry Fulmer. “I am passionate about the implementation of best practice standards in the healthcare setting and am honored to be a member of this organization that is so dedicated to improving healthcare and its outcomes.”

Fulmer is passionate about providing quality care and is dedicated to insuring quality services in hospitals across the nation for geriatric patients. In addition to publishing over 150 papers and textbooks on the subject of geriatric care, she has served on many key panels and received numerous honors for her effort to impact nursing, especially when it comes to the elderly.

Fulmer received a bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College, both her master’s and doctoral degrees from Boston College, and her Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate from New York University. She also completed a Brookdale National Fellowship at Columbia University. A pioneer in her own right, Terry was the fist nurse to serve as president of the Gerontological Society of America, and also the first nurse to be elected to the board of the American Geriatrics Society. Two of her nine books have received American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Awards. She is responsible for the development of the Elder Assessment Instrument (EAI), a screening checklist for elder abuse that is currently used nationwide.
